Bridgehead: 1944
Bridgehead is a turn-based WWII strategy game played on a hex map with classic NATO-style counters. Deploy your battle line across three theaters — the Normandy farmland, the deep forests of the Ardennes, and the wide Eastern-Front steppe — or let the quartermaster draw one at random.
Three roads to victory: capture the enemy headquarters, destroy their army, or win the points race by holding towns.
Command five arms, each with a job:
- Infantry holds towns and is the only arm that can climb mountains
- Armor is the fast hammer — but it's weak against dug-in units
- Artillery reaches 2–3 hexes but can't fire after moving
- Anti-Air is the only ground unit that can touch planes
- Aircraft fly over everything and strike from 4 hexes — but each turn they either fly or shoot, never both
Systems with teeth:
- Action points and movement range — move first, shoot last
- Zones of control: a solid line cannot be slipped through
- Morale: rested, accompanied, victorious troops hit harder; shaken ones hit softer
- Full combat preview before every attack — you always see the odds
- Adjustable enemy strength from Understrength to Overwhelming
Play with mouse, keyboard (WASD/arrows, Enter to end turn), or gamepad.
